Saying as a Brazilian, since the Economist published its series of articles about Brazil last year I've been reading articles that says a lot of bullshit about Brazil and economics, they generally ignore the fact that the country growth is based on the rise of a new middle class (something that Economist touched last week with a series about innovation in the third world), that is probably impossible in the developed world (since almost anyone comes from the middle class), there are also some other measures that helped, generally the majority of them were adopted during the period in which the country faced hyperinflation.
