In 2000 he ran on the platform of redirecting HIV/AIDS treatment funding to conversion therapy [1], among many many other anti-LGBT comments and promises, and continued during his governorship to attempt to legislate bigotry against LGBT people (like banning gay marriage and promoting "religious freedom" to discriminate).
