Software development is hard, and finding out what the client actually needs is half the battle & part of the job before doing anything significant on Upwork or just as a consultant. Often, I find businesses don't understand what they need to operate more efficiently, but when you show it to them, or bring them a mostly formed plan, they are much more likely to get what they need you to build. It all comes down to understanding what the client actually needs, not the lies they unknowingly tell you.
