Educated and good hearted people keep thinking truth matters, that social justice is kept in high regard by the majority, that the positive improvement of our human civilization is innevitable, that brexit and this vote reflect a short lived state of anger, a mistake. That if the truth was exposed people would have made the right choice.
But we are living an age when truth/logic has lost its friction on the collective mind. It is a very weak drive confronted to the sheer complexity of human knowledge.
This is not going away, it will get worst. Hegel describe the course of civilization as an ever returning cycle of pinacles and abyss, which in average gets better, but has to go through cyclic return to war, hatred, and socialde-evolution before being able to sublimate it and reach a higher level of civilization. Alas, Only disasters and pain will be able to tire the verbose stupidity and give perspective to the angry mobs. Maybe this disaster will help spur good and strong men and women into action to tip the equation back again, but I am afraid this time the world will need blood like it did against nazi germany.
- hash-set 10y agoYou can have truth or you can have social justice. They are mutually exclusive. Positive improvement for society came about through things like the Magna Carta and the US Constitution. They didn't come about by social engineering. You got a chance at something, but no guarantees.
