Yes and did to some degree when I left a captive software dev position and started my own business. Still involves lots of programming but mixed with a ton of other things. I sometimes day dream though about doing something outside of software such as landscaping or remodeling houses. Something I can do away from the screen & keyboard. Something that still involves creating and being able to see the end results of your creation.
