I think it is dangerous to change things that have been working well for so long. The point of the electoral college is to prevent an absolute extreme candidate who may vow to turn this into a dictatorship or do away with our democracy. It's not meant to stop the will of the people from say voting a Brexit like vote. This has proven to be one of the best, most robust democratic processes in the world. It has withstood togh times and good times alike. Let's just accept this as something that aint broke.
