MacSafe is probably also not as effective as it was advertised. I had a situations where the cord dragged the MacBook in the opposite direction of the MagSafe port and it almost fell of the table, and conversely I cannot remember having a situation where the plug saved my MacBook in 5 years. One needs to be very careful either way. Fortunately, I am not a photographer. I can imagine that they will miss the SD slot.
