You need excellent communication skills to become an excellent coder. You need to clearly describe bugs for other developers, write documentation, explain why a particular technology / framework / pattern is the best choice, understand what a client / product manager is wanting... the list goes on. Eventually, you will hopefully be training and supporting other developers. How much of your time will be spent coding and how much will be spent communicating with others about your code?
