What is this 1999?
FTA: "The performance difference will be the smallest for file loads, since most users' files are pretty small (like 1-5MB). Loading a program will be more noticeable, but still not a big difference, since most programs' splash-screens are timed to remain active long enough for the user to read them,"
- jlebrech 10y agoyou'd think they should be benchmarking loading of 1Gb files.
- Shivetya 10y agowell its an odd article that hails that SSD speed but practically dismisses that advantage at the end of the article by saying most won't notice. So who would? Gamers? Graphic Artists? Those doing heavy video manipulation? What other applications do a lot of disk intensive work? For me the let down is that Apple cheaped out by going with a near useless touch strip instead of doing the screen where many windows laptops went to already and more are going to. Its good they push storage so strongly, I only hope the next iMac iteration is a worthwhile upgrade.
