I hope your right, but part of the problem is the traction WordPress has. We tried to go with something other than WordPress, but ranbinto all sorts of issues mostly because everything the marketing people wanted to use was already built for WordPress. We also had a hard time finding contractors to make themes and stuff because they all knew WordPress but didn't want to commit to something else.
