Exactly the opposite, I have fighting experience (practiced krav maga for 5 years, where we in fact trained N vs. 1 situations) to know that yes many can ultimately overwhelm (me or anyone else) but also that I will get my licks in too. The point is not that it will absolutely save your ass, but the point is improve your chances a lot from it ever happening by simply making sure that the opponents will have to pay a price.
