Showing that Kaepernick is a dumbass and a hypocrite. [1] And that's what parent meant. It's a play to get extra 15 minutes of fame that modern media provides, because it has an extra narrative for this kind of content.

- chillwaves 10y agoThat video and your post are so awful. Is this the kind of discourse we want on hacker news? So black people are not oppressed in America because some are allowed to play football? Not convincing.
- alphapapa 10y agoSo black people are oppressed in America because not all of them play football? This is the flip-side of your logic coin. See how that works? Is this the kind of discourse we want on hacker news?
- tdkl 10y agoThanks for your arguments, compared to this "awful video" which actually provided some. Your post is a showcase of how easy it's rather to jump on the shaming bandwagon the modern media is enforcing through its echo chamber instead of viewing specific cases separately, with clear head and actual data.
- tdkl 10y agoAnd here's a great example of what I talked about - if black people aren't supporting the right political candidate, the news isn't interesting enough to spread it : https://youtu.be/cJV41gS2c8M https://youtu.be/cJV41gS2c8M Imagine if that were white Trump supporters, media would be trembling from justice calls.
- cnnsucks 10y ago"Is this the kind of discourse we want on hacker news?" It's pretty unavoidable if we are going to deal with topics like ESPN and the NFL in today's climate; polling outfits are actively investigating this matter and discovering just how badly ESPN/NFL core demos are reacting to the SJW lecturing being foisted on them. Slashdot ruined itself the same way; posting controversial topics that produce huge flame wars. If you don't like it then see that more care is taken regarding which stories appear. "So black people are not oppressed in America because some are allowed to play football? Not convincing." That's ironic. An earlier response quoted some ESPN anti-Trump propaganda lecturing its dwindling white viewership that blacks aren't all "oppressed" ghetto denizens: "Did you know that not all black people live in the inner city? Did you know that not all inner cities are ghettos?" Other clever folk are claiming that ESPN has nothing to worry about because there are plenty of minorities that can afford $100+/month in cable bills despite all the terrible "oppression" they live under. BLM grievance mongering is bad business if you want white disposable income. All that's left to discover now is just how much damage professional sports is willing to self-inflict before they figure this out.
