I don't get it.
Why not make it Twitter's Dedicated Video App as vine already has a strong network which can be built upon.
Very soon Facebook will release their dedicated video app and Twitter will be looking clueless.
I don't get big companies

- wcummings 10y agoIntegrating two services of this scale isn't trivial or inexpensive, even for a big company. Especially for a big company that is laying people off.
- TillE 10y agoThe "integration" doesn't need to be incredibly sophisticated. Look at Periscope.
- mrtron 10y agoI think it doesn't fit their 'live' mission.
- dawnerd 10y agoTwitter has no idea what they're doing and they haven't for a very long time.
- skylan_q 10y agoOne of Twitter's goals is to not make it look like they don't know what they're doing. They're still working on figuring out the rest of the goals.

- nerfhammer 10y agoTwitter has another dedicated video app, Periscope.
- majewsky 10y agoTo describe Vine and Periscope as "the same" because they are both "video apps" is like saying blueberries and a potato salad are the same because they're both food.
- nerfhammer 10y agoThey're not the same. They are the same in that they are both dedicated video apps. Whatever dedicated video app Facebook is going to release one assumes that it will probably be a lot more like Periscope than Vine.
- snarkyturtle 10y agoVine's limitations held it back. Square video and 6 seconds does not a good video app make. In order to appeal to businesses that would actually pay for video (ad agencies, news) they'd have to completely remake the app to account for different aspect ratios and videos longer than 6 seconds. When twitter.com already has videos that support those features why keep an antiquated app around?
- joe5150 10y agoVine has had a "watch more" feature for longer videos in non-square formats for a while.
- clintonb 10y agoToo little, too late. I open the app about once every 1-2 months. I never knew about the "watch more" feature. At that point it's just like any other video app, begging the question of, "why use Vine"?
