I'm optimistic, even if the first version might not be there, this development seems to be going in the right direction with probably a lot of room for improvement. If it's only as good as a compact, then I'd think it's still a better option due to the selective DOF that it is supposedly able to do. But then it's definitely on the pricey side, so it's questionable if it's still worth it.
