- groby_b 10y agoIIRC, that'd get the apps API access cut off. But if you want to have fun, keep blocking promoted tweets. After a month or two, things get... "interesting" in terms of what you see. Well, at least entertaining.

- tanocuto 10y ago3rd party clients have literally no way to pull promoted tweets, i.e. you'll never see any in a 3rd party client.
- x5315 10y agoPlease see my comment here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12789001 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12789001 Only one third party app receives Promoted Tweets, and no third party apps are required to display them.
- Overtonwindow 10y agoWhat about repetitive tweets? I stopped following so many publications because they would post an article link, then repeatedly change the title or the catch and post the same link. Very frustrating.
- shas3 10y agoThe Economist, for one, has a "The Economist, Once" account that only tweets articles once, when they are published!
- aggie 10y agoAnd yet I rarely ever see anything on my timeline from the 'Once' account, but plenty from the regular account, and not too many repeats. It seems the new curated timeline really hurts the post-once approach.
- jjude 10y agoI use Tweetbot on ios and I don't see promoted tweets
- dublinben 10y agoI use Twidere, and don't think I've ever seen a promoted tweet.
- x5315 10y agoAll third party apps (except a single Enterprise tool) do not receive Promoted Tweets. They're only requested and displayed within the Twitter "Owned and Operated" clients.
