What's the benefit with MacBook Air vs the new macbook?
- morley 10y agoNot the OP but I've only used the new Macbook for a few minutes (maybe about 15 in my lifetime), but to my mind, the feel of the new keyboard leaves a lot to be desired. And I personally don't need a computer to be much smaller than the MBA.
- chadgeidel 10y agoIt's my understanding that the MacBook is a very, very low wattage part - the "core M" series (~5 watts?). A MacBook Air has the lower wattage "core i" series part (~15 watts?), and the MacBook Pro has the higher wattage "core i" series part (~25 watts?). I can't find any documentation ATM.
- treve 10y agoHm I never used a laptop and thought, I wish this machine had a higher wattage.
- jandrese 10y agoYou have probably used one and thought "this laptop is slow, I wish it were faster."
- treve 10y agoTotally! Never directly associated that with watts though.
- basch 10y agoan i5 today is about the same speed as an i7 in 2012, but uses 1/3rd the power. to use any less power, it needs to get slower.
- TazeTSchnitzel 10y agoThe MacBook has an i5 or an i7, yes, and it also has fans, so it doesn't throttle so heavily on high workloads. It makes playing some games on low settings possible, which I appreciate.
- molecule 10y ago> The MacBook has an i5 or an i7, yes, and it also has fans, so it doesn't throttle so heavily on high workloads. I think that you mean "MacBook Air / Pro", as the MacBook is Core-M based and lacks fans, etc.
- TazeTSchnitzel 10y agoOops, yes, the MBA is what I meant.
