To be precise: Google's hardware 2FA support will work with any security key supporting the FIDO U2F protocol. Yubikey devices are U2F compatible. (And in my opinion one of the best devices out there, thanks to PGP/SSH smartcard support.) But there are also cheaper versions on Amazon that work just as well if you're on a budget.
