Things were blowing up before the firing of the mod. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
There are a lot of communities on Reddit that focus on media coordination. There was a huge push from most tech media to be pro-Pao despite a total lack of evidence to support her story. I see that as the main intersection between her and the Reddit community. She was a Reddit story that became the Reddit CEO then went on to make questionable decisions (mod firing, banning salary negotiation...).

And here you repeat the false accusation against her. As for salary negotiation, this was already in the works by her predecessor. It wasn't her baby.
