WA's current Gov. Jay Inslee's opponent in this fall's election is running a great ad of him sitting in a car, stuck in traffic on what looks like the eastside of Seattle (aka Bellevue), promising that get "gets it" and that he will end gridlock, without offering a single solution.
He is against ST-3.
I chuckle every time it comes on.
- saosebastiao 10y agoI do too. Quite possibly the most vapid ad I've seen on actual traffic solutions, all the while opposing the best measure he could possibly support to mitigate the coming traffic disaster that accompanies growth.
- erispoe 10y agoGridlock is a feature, not a bug. We know there is a strong induced demand with individual transportation. Building more capacity will attract more car drivers. The same effect is true for mass transit, once the network is strong enough. But induced demand is usually a positive effect for mass transit.
- oasisbob 10y agoTo clarify (in case anyone misreads this the same way I did) Inslee supports ST3. His Republican challenger Bill Bryant does not.
- chrismcb 10y agoSt3 doesn't really do much to solve the issue with 405. It week help a little as some people will take the train over the lake instead of driving around it. But otherwise it doesn't tackle the 405 issue
