Ask HN: What are the best web tools to build basic web apps as of October 2016?
A few years back the stack (amongst the startup-crowd) was a choice between rails/ruby or python/{python web framework}.
Then as of ~3 years ago seems the default went to JS/node, or perhaps Meteor or Ember if you wanted.
I've been out of the loop for ~2 years. One benefit of popular tools is people who want to work with the tools, and frequent updates. Seems like Yarn has dethroned NPM. And react seems to be the default frontend choice. I also see Vue for frontend. And node still the default backend choice.
Questions:
1: Which technologies are popular and what do people like about them? (To help someone deciding between)
2: Is there a site that keeps track of the various options for frontend and backend frameworks and how their popularity progresses?
