I saw one of the core developers tweeting that he hates dinosaurs because they're ancient meat eating predators that are extinct.
The developers are not the ones running this I'm sure but it gives some idea as to why.
I disagree. Dinosaurs are cool. Dinosaurs are what we like when we still have dreams.

- pavlov 10y agoReal apples often have worms and rot inside. Yet it's good enough for the world's most valuable brand. The whole point of using a symbol in branding is that you don't have to drag along every association that the real-world thing may have. Mozilla's dinosaur was a powerful, happy fellow who is clearly not extinct at all. I always liked that as an image of how Mozilla is about defying expectations.
