What I would find more interesting is if neural nets are even a valid way to built automotive components for self driving cars. Safety critical components in most of the industries are currently very heavily built around the idea of being deterministic, so that you exactly know what will happen for a specific input and when it will happen. And of course also where the behavior from requirements can be found in code and all this process stuff. Neural networks from my point of view (only university knowledge) seem however more like blackboxes, where you don't exactly know how they will behave in the end.
