I'm sure the US Govt would love to give him a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to use. But seriously, if you were him, how confident would you be that the phone wasn't tampered with, no matter who you received it from? How could Assange trust anyone at this point? I'd imagine he would be quite paranoid given what he deals with and probably more so from the period of confinement.
