When you try to decrypt a partition encrypted using TrueCrypt, you need to click a checkmark that says "TrueCrypt compatibility mode". It never failed me. I think that what they mean by "not 100% TrueCrypt compatible" is that it doesn't work the other way — you (probably, I've never tried it) can't decrypt VeraCrypt-encrypted partition with TrueCrypt.
