People generally are much more vocal about negative experiences than positive ones. If the thing "just works", what am I going to say? "PHP is nice, it does what I need it to do". That's not interesting in any way. If the thing doesn't work, then I usually have quite a few specific annoyances I've most likely spent considerable time trying to get around or solve completely, and I have developed strong opinions based on those experiences.
