Please use git
- k__ 10y agoI started developing profesinally 2006 in a shop that used CVS, they always said they want to switch to SVN. I also used Mercurial at Mozilla. But besides those two, I always used Git anywhere, almost felt like a IT-industry standard to me. The only thing I read was that Perforce was a big thing in the game-industry.
- collyw 10y agoI find it quite ironical that much of gits complexity comes from it being a distibuted version control system, yet a huge chunk of people (the majority?) use it with Github, which centralities it.
- amingilani 10y agoThe thing is Github has managed to build a pretty active userbase, to the point that everyone assumes you host your project on Github. It's the best way to get collaborators. If, however, you feel strongly about centralization, host a mirror on Gitlab. It's still only a single command away.
- zlynx 10y agoSort of. Your local Git repo is fully functional even while you're disconnected.
