Google Reveals the Future of Printing With Google Cloud Print

I'm of very mixed minds about this idea, but I'm glad to see it being put out there for discussion and development. I kind of get the feeling that something like this will happen anyway, and so starting a dialogue now is a great idea.

This does make good steps in solving the problem of printing with devices that are more web/cloud-based. Of course, there are services like FedEx Print Online already that help to a degree.

I was kind of hoping this would have something to do with skywriting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skywriting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skywriting). It would be cool, because then you could integrate it with twitter and have really big tweets in the sky. Google's main service is ads, so it would kind of make sense. Thinking about it, skywriting might actually make more sense from google's business perspective than 'cloud printing'. I fail to see how cloud printing is better than a document aware printer (runs its own OS or something) attached to a bluetooth and your LAN. How do you monetize being a glorified printer driver?
