Poll: What is in your opinion the simplest Python template generator?
I’m thinking about Google App Engine, and some very modest first (baby) steps. Thanks!
- zeemonkee 17y agoJinja2. Quixote, ClearSilver and Cheetah are quite dated - ClearSilver IIRC was used in Trac, I think it's replaced by Genshi now.
- ez77 17y agoThanks. I added Jinja2 and Genshi
- Dysiode 17y agoThe Django engine would be the simplest to use with App Engine by far given that it's native. If you're interested in baby steps I would (and did) start with Django and migrate to Jinja2 (it's a simple migration, Jinja2 is almost syntactically identical to the Django engine). In my experience Django takes no effort to make immediate use of but has several weird quirks that drove me away from it into the loving arms of Jinja2. On the other hand Jinja2 takes a little more effort to setup (and is slower, unless you pre-compile and cache your templates which is an extra step to worry about).
- antimora 17y agoI like Tornado's template engine, which is based on Django's syntax but it's the simpler than Djangos and more powerful in my opinion. You need 2 files to drop into GAE project: template.py and escape.py Here is the doc link: http://www.tornadoweb.org/documentation#templates http://www.tornadoweb.org/documentation#templates
