"Oriental" comes from the Latin word for "eastern". If you're going to ban that word, then you should also ban words like "Western" (as in "Western civilization") since they represent a subjective point of view. But what, actually, is wrong with having a particular culturally-dependent PoV? According to Wikipedia, outrage over the word "oriental" is itself culturally determined - it mostly seems to be a thing in American English.
