Replying to "logs all connections" separately...
Who said anything about logs necessitating the need for permanent storage? My router doesn't have a permanent log... It just keeps a buffer of the last N log entries in memory (e.g. `logread`).
Alternatively, I can (and have) configured it to forward its logs to a central server on my home network. Syslog forwarding and collection has been around for a really long time. It may be tricky to meet the "encrypts all network traffic" certification and syslog forwarding at the same time though since encrypted syslog normally involves a PKI.
The whole Certificate Authority concept doesn't play really well with IoT, actually.
