If we want non-tech friends and relatives to buy the right things, we need to boild down to traffic light label, or something like EU energy label for score out of 8 (that manufacturers dislike, and had to be recalibrated when >50 of appliances were A rated - guess it works well too).
To me, we should have IoT devices on a different protocol not everything http(s). Nothing gets out unless you got an IoT passthrough router.
An IoT hub that shows me what devices, connections, and manages what can connect to where and when. QoS and other neat features if needed.
It'll never happen now of course, but would sure beat the current fustercluck.
