At the moment a ddos is like an open weapon that can be deployed by nearly anybody to further any agenda; governments, extortionists, and anyone with an axe to grind.
But putting the burden on all devices that connect to the network is idealistic. Sure it may work for the 99 billion devices, but what about the 1 billion devices that may not be properly secured. This wack a mole strategy rarely works.
There must be a way for edge nodes to quickly detect a ddos and shut it down.
We should be extremely wary security hysteria often used by people with agendas to gain control and lock things down. Only 'approved' devices can connect to the network or everyone on the internet must surrender their passport to the nearest authority and be surveiled 24/7 to prempt and prevent criminal operations.
