Personally, of the local (London) developers I look up to, not one of them is in what we'd call here a prestigious job. They are still forced to apply to jobs as any other average candidate. I am referring to people I've worked with, and other with amazing github repos. Despite all we've heard, I am forced to conclude that talent is mostly unrecognized in this industry.
