Yeah it's just that the Ruby/Rails world is pretty tightly tied into Git. Most Gems these days are automatically created by GitHub/Gemcutter... I'm actually perfectly happy with SVN, but in order to participate more in the open-source side of the Rails world I'll need to move to Git.
