If the women are required to wear the hijab to compete than why don't the male chess players wear the hijab as well? I imagine wearing something so contrary to what a player normally wears could affect performance. Other sports have uniform requirements so if the competition has to be held in this location and one set of players have to wear a specific uniform, in this case the hijab, then they should require all players, gender be damned, to wear the hijab.
