When someone says: Maybe you could use a binary tree. and the reply is: No, that is wrong, what you need is X, is a different thing. Beste inverviews I had were always a give an take. I talked algorithms, data structures, etc but never with the interviewer having a one solution answer. Best interview questions are like: Ok, we have this domain problem, what can you do about it? and then spend a couple hours on a whiteboard on a back and forth discussion about it, maybe you get it right, maybe you dont but have another idea, etc.
