Yes, take into account more than just those 81 lines. All of the discussion (and whinging) on both sides.
Political correctness has become a plague on all houses.
- dalke 10y agoAccording to your logic, why are you wasting even more time whinging about the topic, thus contributing to the plague?
- geezerjay 10y agoThe first step of problem solving is acknowledging that a problem exists. This example demonstrates (yet again) that political correctness is a colossal waste of human effort. This colossal waste of human effort will persists until, in the very least, people like you recognize the problem that it is. What you described as "whining" is in fact an attempt to call attention to the problem.
- dalke 10y agoSheraz wrote "(and whinging) on both sides". I repeated that use to point out the apparent contradiction in complaining about wasted time by further complaining. This thread came because I earlier pointed out that the arguments against the change sounded very much like people who want a safe space where discussions of slavery and its lingering effects are not brought up. Discussion of these topics seems to offend many people. For some reason conservative and reactionary politically correct language is never called "politically correct", even when it otherwise has all the attributes of being so. This is of course because it was created as concept by conservatives to chastise the liberalism. But I feel like making it something other than a politically one-sided label. What is 'Freedom fries' but an expression of conservative political correctness? Sheraz responded with the classic both-siderism from Romeo And Juliet, "a plague on both their houses". Now you come by and ignore both observations of the conservative P.C.-ism in the opposition text, and the underlying argument for the change, as well as Sheraz's complaint about whining on both sides. Perhaps people like you should recognize the problem that conservative politically correct speech also exists, and learn to analyze the underlying arguments and trade-offs? That's why I pointed to previous history of the topic, as well as the observation that we're talking about 81 lines of documentation. Is there no level of change which can be done which won't upset you? Why should your sense of outrage take priority over those who prefer "primary/replica"?
