- matt_wulfeck 10y agoHow many IoT devices are out on the public internet at the moment? and for the existing IOT devices, are they the same thing, or were different exploits used for different devices?
- yashinm92 10y agoHow many on the public internet? Too many. Here are close to 100k IP cameras on the public internet: https://www.shodan.io/search?query=ip+camera https://www.shodan.io/search?query=ip+camera Again, the speculation that it is IoT devices is unfortunately just that. However massive compromise of internet connected embedded device is not new: http://internetcensus2012.bitbucket.org/paper.html http://internetcensus2012.bitbucket.org/paper.html
- Spare_account 10y agoAre there any good quality articles you can link to discussing this?
- yashinm92 10y agoGood quality? I'm not sure. Just speculation on this one post: https://www.hackread.com/brian-krebs-website-665-gbps-ddos-attack/ https://www.hackread.com/brian-krebs-website-665-gbps-ddos-a...
- dharma1 10y agoGot a source for that? Thanks
- yashinm92 10y agoJust this link: https://www.hackread.com/brian-krebs-website-665-gbps-ddos-attack/ https://www.hackread.com/brian-krebs-website-665-gbps-ddos-a... I'm a bit concerned about the reliability of that report since there are no strong proofs for their claim.
- dharma1 10y agoInteresting. Here's a bit more on IoT botnets http://blog.level3.com/security/attack-of-things/ http://blog.level3.com/security/attack-of-things/ Good luck updating those embedded linux devices, or even alerting the people who own them
- abricot 10y agoA botnet of coffee machines, thermostats and Teslas? :D
