It is not difficult to make microbes resistant to penicillin in the laboratory by exposing them to concentrations not sufficient to kill them, and the same thing has occasionally happened in the body.

- ddlatham 10y agoSounds a lot like live virus vaccines introduced to humans. Weak enough not to kill us and then we develop resistance. Improper dosage of antibiotics is like 'vaccinating' the microbes.
