Clearly parent argued opposite. We entrust law enforcement to be the sole provider of legitimate force to uphold the law. But that power must also be checked or else it becomes a blind eye to the illegitimate use of force. I'm all for law enforcement having better weapons, armor, and information networks than any terrorist or criminal, but that doesn't mean they can use it as they wish. The law must apply to the lawmen.
