It's not false and that trend is nothing but clear. There is no clear trend in countries below 20 000$/person/year GDP (ppp). There is clear trend of lower Gini = higher GDP in countries that fall in range of 20 000$ - 45 000$. Above that, the trend reverses. I had to exclude Afganistan, Cuba, Myanmar, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria and Ivory coast becase the data didn't have gini for them.
