  For a small amount like $15, I'd use PayPal. For larger amounts, TransferWise. They take a 0.5% fee for the conversion, but the transfer is usually fast.

    TransferWise costs 1% (at least for me, for USD -> CAD) and takes days. It's incomparable to Bitcoin which takes 10 minutes and is practically free (including the BTC<->fiat conversions if you fiddle with limit orders).

      It seems to be 0.5% for most European currencies, and from other countries I expect to have good banking systems (Japan, Hong Kong, Australia etc). Perhaps that reflects lower costs for them. Although it can take days, I've usually found it takes at most a few hours. I transfer between GBP, EUR and DKK.
