While interesting, this is not satisfying as a general argument for non-ACID databases. Incrementing and decrementing are about the simplest possible operations, and even the article admitted that these are commutative, so the order doesn't matter. It is indeed much easier to work with operations that can be ordered arbitrarily, but I think that most real-world problems are sequential.
