Isn't this the same sort of idea as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gather-scatter_(vector_addressing) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gather-scatter_(vector_address..., just with more thought around timing of the loads/stores and cache hierarchy?
- jasonwatkinspdx 10y agoIt's similar, but a key difference is that Milk is deferring the exact timing of access in order to do a sort. You can build the same thing atop scatter/gather primitives but they don't do that for you themselves.
