What Hawking, Musk, and Gates fear is a weaponized AI. One that doesn't necessarily "want" to take us over or rule over us, but one that is specifically programmed to do so. Nuclear warheads are built to blow up. That doesn't necessarily mean they "want" to, but they are dangerous all the same.
