I am somewhat surprised this is news. I understand that Shit My Dad Says is fun and all to read, but tying it to a social networking site like Status Net or Twitter is just silly to me.
Wouldn't it be beneficial to just have a distinct website not reliant on a social network? (note: I am not sure if they have one or not.)
- icey 17y agoIt just looks like a press release to me. I don't think it's particularly newsy either.
- wallflower 17y ago> but tying it to a social networking site like Status Net or Twitter is just silly to me. shitmydadsays started on Twitter and is one of those legendary Twitter/Social Media stories. Guy starts Twitter account. Extremely funny content. Goes viral. Guy gets sitcom deal. Growth: (25k followers around 8/26/2009, shitmydadsays joined Twitter on 8/3/2009) http://fernandorizo.typepad.com/blog/2009/08/watching-an-audience-grow-in-real-time.html http://fernandorizo.typepad.com/blog/2009/08/watching-an-aud...
- hugh3 17y agoThat's impressive growth. The first I heard of it was on 9/17/2009 when a friend (who is so anti-technology that she isn't even on facebook) emailed me to let me know she'd joined twitter just so she could follow the shitmydadsays guy. The really impressive thing is that right now he only tweets once a week or so, and still has 1.3 million followers.
