DNSCrypt was not designed to guarantee privacy, but arguing that DNSCrypt actually reduces privacy seems strange to me.
- tptacek 10y agoNot so much "strange" as "wrong". The blog post is good! It makes an important point. But its conclusion is badly flawed.
- darrmit 10y agoConclusion is fine. The clickbait title is the problem.
- mike-cardwell 10y agoReduces in the sense that using dnscrypt simply increases the number of third parties that can see what you're doing. I think that is valid.
- dogma1138 10y agoBut so does a VPN when you use a VPN the VPN provider can see what you are doing, they are even in a better position to launch MItM attacks against you than many adversaries.
- mike-cardwell 10y agoNo it doesn't. Using a VPN changes which third parties can see what you're doing. It doesn't increase the number of them. Using a VPN removes your ISP from that list. Using DNSCrypt does not.
