Free start-up idea: Twitch.tv for sports commentating. Everyone hates the announcers for proffesional sports, why not have a platform for user-commentators? Mute my TV and have Joe Shcmoe commentate an NFL game by streaming the audio through my phone's speakers.
- mox1 10y agoMost major sports teams claim copyright over "accounts" and "Descriptions of the game". Now, this may not be copyright-able, but I'd give it a 90%+ chance they would sue your brand new startup if you tried something like that...
- Taylor_OD 10y agoWasnt that a big problem for Twitch early on? Getting sued by networks because people were streaming on their platform.
- soared 10y agoAny press is good press for a startup I suppose..
- soared 10y agoYeah that would definitely be a problem for the bigger leagues like the NFL. But I think smaller leagues (MMA, MLS, non-mainstream sports) could embrace the extra viewers.
- rickdale 10y agoAndy Roddick started commentating tennis over periscope and its absolutely amazing. He pulled in sponsors for the US Open and provided insight on players thats extremely tough to find elsewhere.
- soared 10y agoThat is all I want but for the NFL.
