In 1999 I had an old (at the time) Pentium-133 that wouldn't let me reinstall windows when the network card was plugged in. If I did that the mouse, the graphics card, the network card, and the secondary harddrive wouldn't work. If i unplugged the networking card when i installed there were no issues.
