I'd agree with and extend your remark with car ownership is much like peasant agricultural labor. If a judge and jury sentenced me to do it, or culture forced me, or parents expected it of me, I'd be pretty annoyed, but of my own free will this summer I grew many green pepper plants in my elaborate container garden and find the labor involved very relaxing (and tasty!). Elaborate economic arguments about how I should have spent those relaxing labor hours contracting and then shopping for factory farmed green peppers are going to fall on deaf ears.
